Our Work
Best Tellers Curriculum Workshops
The contents of the Best Teller curriculum were delivered at the Mumbai based NGO Sparsha through a series of interactive workshops. Through the workshops, with the support of powerpoint slides, and questions answer sessions students learned the basics of story writing and storytelling. They also completed assigned worksheets and participated in hands-on activities and exercises which utilized different mediums of creativity. The workshops also involved live writing sessions and warm exercises to keep students engaged and interested.
Finding Best Teller Award
Post the conduction of the workshops, in order to sustain and encourage the interest of the students in story writing, I conducted the Finding Best Teller Award at Sparsha, which was an on-the-spot story writing competition for all the students who had participated in the workshops. The competition was divided into 2 parts with the first part consisting of students picking from the prompts given to write their stories. The first round saw participation from around 40 students. In the second half of the competitions, 20 students were shortlisted based on their written stories and received the opportunity to recite their stories in front of an audience consisting of Sparsha volunteers and other participants. In the end, the best story won the Best Teller Award, and was also awarded a certificate and stationary set!
Best Tellers Volunteer Clubs
In August 2023, after the successful completion of engagements at Sparsha, I conducted outreach to different NGOs offering the donation of online resources which could help them implement the Best Teller model among their students. I donated soft copies of the Best Teller Curriculum, copies of the session plans, and PowerPoint Presentations to Delhi based NGOs Hamari Pehchaan and Sukhad. I conducted hour long sessions with each NGO’s volunteers to deliver the materials and instruct on their utilization.
